The video became available on Youtube soon after the Super Bowl ended on February 3 and uploaded with the title. “Blimp or Ufo ? Lights Above Super Bowl 47 Before Blackout New Orleans Superdome Blackout ! UFO ?” The video was spotted by Dominic Gover from the International Business Tribune who ran his story in the highly regarded International Business Tribune on February 6. According to Gover,
Officials in New Orleans are still baffled by what happened to disrupt the American football game between Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. Confusiondeepened when energy supplier Entergy New Orleans admitted its investigation had drawn a blank.A full-scale inquiry has been mounted by the owners of the Superdome. Consultants were being drafted in to analyse data. More than $1m of improvements to the stadium were commissioned in the aftermath of the blackout. But could footage of the sky over the southern state city at the time of the power cut hold clues?
The video shows the Louisiana Superdome on the day of the Super Bowl taken by the Live Camera feed from the Online Weather Center. According to the video narrator:
There was something that appeared right above the Superdome right before the lights went out… Maybe nothing, maybe something. But there was something above the Superdome in the sky right before the lights went out.
In my previous Super Bowl article, I speculated about the similarities between the Super Bowl power outage and the power blackout in the Day the Earth Stood Still Sci Fi classic:
In the Day the Earth Stood Still, an alien called Klaatu comes up with the idea of a 30 minute power outage to get the attention of Earth governments so that they allow scientists to meet to discuss the alien’s proposals for nuclear disarmament and world peace. With more than seventy years elapsing since the first UFO sightings and alleged communications with extraterrestrials, could aliens have lost patience with the US government? Could aliens have chosen to demonstrate their power by orchestrating a power outage at the New Orleans Superdome during the biggest moment in the US sporting calendar?
The video of the live camera feed of a UFO over the Superdome minutes before the blackout does make it more plausible that over 111 million viewers witnessed a message from extraterrestrials. On the other hand, the UFO may have been a blimp or other mundane terrestrial source that coincided with a chance electrical breakdown at the Superdome during a remarkable Super Bowl game. You decide.
